Elysium Health is best known for developing and manufacturing Basis, one of the United States’ most wholesome supplements. Basis is a relatively simple supplement, composed of two ingredients packed into vegan-friendly capsules.
The Background of Elysium Health
Elysium Health was created just three years ago, in 2014, by a pair of well-tenured businessmen and a top-notch scientist.
Dr. Leonard Guarente, the scientist, is a tenured professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he’s worked since 1982. At MIT, Mr. Guarente is the sole Director of the Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT, a long-established laboratory with the goal of researching molecular and genetic causes of aging.
Eric Marcotulli and Dan Alminana are the two other individuals involved in the foundation of Elysium Health, both boasting long, tenured careers at some of the world’s most deeply-established investment management firms. Alminana, the current COO, spent time at JP Morgan Venture Capital and Marcotulli, the Chief Executive Officer of Elysium Health, spent several years at Sequoia Capital.
Why Basis Is What It Claims to Be—a Promoter of Cellular Health
In the early months of 2017, Basis was tested through a clinical trial consisting of 120 individuals ranging in age from 60 to 80 years old. The group was split into three equal cohorts, each of which received just one of the following three treatments: a placebo, 250 milligrams of nicotinamide riboside and 50 milligrams of pterostilbene, or 500 milligrams of nicotinamide riboside and 100 milligrams of pterostilbene, respectively.
The study found that, given either one of two doses of Basis, participants’ levels of NAD+ rose in a sustainable way. For the group taking the recommended serving of Basis, 250 milligrams of nicotinamide riboside and 50 milligrams of pterostilbene, their NAD+ levels rose by 40 percent after four weeks, a level that was sustained at eight weeks.
Where the Public Can Find Basis
Basis is available for purchase on the official website of Elysium Health for the reasonable price of $60 per jar. The price drops to between $40 and $50 when purchasing a monthly subscription to the supplement.
